The Indiana, Illinois, Iowa Foundation for Fair Contracting (“III FFC”) is proud to spotlight the great work of Valley Construction Company to promote careers in construction. Valley Construction Company implemented the John Hass Memorial Scholarship this year with the objective of purchasing needed tools for a graduate of Black Hawk College’s Highway Construction Careers Training Program (“HCCTP”). As part of a condition of receiving the scholarship, the recipient must be enrolled in a union apprenticeship program after graduation.
The scholarship will honor John Hass, the son of founder, Arthur Hass who founded the company in 1925. For over fifty years, the company was run by Arthur’s children: John, Jim and Bill who then continued to pass the business down in their family. Greg Hass is the current President of Valley Construction Company who also sat on one of III FFC’s boards in years past. Valley Construction Company is a proud signatory contractor of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150.
The Hass family will give a special announcement of the John Hass Memorial Scholarship during the III FFC’s Annual Construction Industry and Public Official Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday, February 27th. This dinner serves as a special opportunity for the III FFC to show appreciation to responsible contractors who support job creation in the construction industry.
