Mercy Medical Center recently announced the addition of Kelly Sterk, MSN, ARNP, FNP-C to the medical group for Mercy Clinic. With this addition, Mercy now offers 16 physicians and advanced care providers for specialty and primary care.
Sterk completed her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017 from Chamberlain College of Nursing. She completed clinical rotations with the Fulton Family Health Clinic in Fulton, Illinois and Medical Associates in Clinton, Iowa where she provided routine healthy visits, cared for individuals with acute illnesses and monitored and treated those with chronic diseases.
"We are pleased to have Kelly join the staff of providers for Mercy," said Amy Berentes, Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Medical Center, adding, "with her skills, experience and knowledge, she provides a high standard of care to patients and is a tremendous asset to our community,"
Sterk has been with Mercy Medical Center since 1983 when she began as a critical care nurse. Through her career, she has had responsibilities in infection control, informatics and information technology prior to her clinical work as a nurse practitioner.
"I enjoy providing education to patients on the importance of preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices," said Sterk, adding, "every meeting is an opportunity for education and I am excited to be practicing in the Clinton community."
Sterk began seeing patients in November on the fourth floor of Mercy – North Campus. As a provider with Dr. Erin Herndon, Internal Medicine, Kelly will see patients 16 years and older. Please call 563-242-7522 for appointments.
