• CCC and RSVP Host ENCORE - Enrichment Courses for Retirees

    Clinton Community College and RSVP will partner to offer ENCORE * PRESENTS… a SENIOR SpringTuneUP on Wednesday, March 27 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  The event will be held at the Clinton Community College Technology Center (former Graphic Arts Technology Center), 1951 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton. 
    ENCORE = Enrichment Courses for Retirement.  This is an opportunity for retirees to come together for a day of entertainment and enrichment.   There are several top-notch, informative speakers scheduled throughout the day.  We hope participants are able to spend the day with us, get tuned up for a great spring season, sit back, enjoy yourselves and lunch is provided! 
    Special musical guests will be the Marian Anderson String QuartetAs winners of the 2008 Chamber Music America Guarneri String Quartet Award, the Marian Anderson String Quartet is at home in both the concert hall and the classroom.  With venues from the Library of Congress to soup kitchens and juvenile correction facilities, the Marian Anderson String Quartet continues to uphold its mission to create new audiences for American Chamber music.
    Other presentation topics will include CCC Bickelhaupt Arboretum Director Margo Hansen sharing The Good, The Bad & The Bug-ly, John & Martha Bonte taking us on a tour of South American, and an update from the Clinton County RSVP.  This event is FREE.   Pre-register by calling 1-888-336-3907 or 563-244-7100 to register for course #4169.
    April IS Community College Month.  Join us for these events as we celebrate Clinton Community College!
    Thursday, March 28 – Artist Ben Holmberg CCC Library Art Gallery  – 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.   The exhibit will end March 28. The next exhibit will include artwork from CCC students, with a reception held on Thursday, May 2 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. The CCC Library is located at 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton, Iowa.
    Friday, March 29 - CCC Alumni Association Trivia Night - Clinton Community College Auditorium, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton – 6:30 p.m.  First place team wins $100, second place team wins $50.  This fundraiser supports the four CCC Alumni Association Scholarships for CCC students.
    Saturday, March 30 – Gaming Club EXTRAVAGANZA IV – 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. - Come by the CCC Auditorium at 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton, to learn all about the hobby.  Food and fun for the whole family.  Gamers 14 and under are required to bring a parent or adult.  Entry to the event is free with a suggested donation of cash or non-perishable items for the CCC Cupboard, a place where CCC students can get food, toiletries and diapers. You receive an extra entry to the raffles if you donate, so please bring some items to help out the Cupboard.
    Monday, April 15 - Black History Presentation by Dr. Jodi Merriday – 12:30 p.m. - Explore historical facts about the African-American experience to stimulate cross-racial and cross-cultural dialogue about identity, privilege, bias and prejudice.  Participants will be led through an exploration of: 1) race and culture; 2) racial sensitivity and awareness; 3) inclusivity and diversity; and 4) exhibiting tolerance.  Prominent African-Americans will be introduced to frame excellence and the contributions made to America by African-Americans. 
    Thursday, April 18 – CCC Continuing Ed Day – Join us throughout the day for a sampling of Continuing Education courses including beekeeping, cybersecurity, painting, and more!  More details at www.eicc.edu
    Wednesday, April 24 – Community Author Book Fest – 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – CCC Auditorium, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton – Area authors will be on hand to talk about writing, getting published and to answer all your questions.
    Thursday, April 25 – Paul B. Sharar Foundation Scholarship Donors/Recipients Reception – CCC Auditorium, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton – 4:00 p.m.  This annual event celebrates the students earning scholarships for the coming academic year, and the donors making these generous contributions.   For more information, contact Clinton Community College at 563-244-7001.
