International Women's Day Celebration
YWCA Clinton and the Sisters of St. Francis are proud to present their second annual International Women’s Day Celebration on Monday, March 8th from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. The event will be held virtually via Zoom and feature speaker Leslie K. Bruton.
The 2021 theme for International Women’s Day is “Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World”, aiming to celebrate the tremendous contributions by women and girls worldwide in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and shaping a more equal future. As a renowned motivational speaker and mentor that has dedicated her career to supporting today’s youth, Bruton will give her speech entitled “Hope in a Crisis”.
Bruton is the author of Entourage Yourself, a devotional novel that discusses building a deeper relationship with God and improving one’s inner self. She previously worked as a science teacher and student support specialist with Communities in School, a national organization housed in the public school system that aims to provide academic, social and emotional support for at-risk youth.
Bruton currently serves as a medical outreach representative in her home state of South Carolina by conducting home visits to people of all ages to ensure they receive quality healthcare. Bruton received her bachelor’s degree in biology at the historically black college Voorhess College, before earning her master’s degree in education from Concordia University.
