One of Sherlock Holmes most frequently used quotes - “How often have I said that when you have excluded the impossible whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth” - still rings true even today.

Who would think that Timber Lake Playhouse, your Theatre in the Woods, would be a launching pad for actors, as well as a cultural center for the Midwest.  But, as Sherlock says, “It must be the truth.”  The TLP Board is committed to further growth at the theatre for actors, supporters, and our communities. To this end, TLP’s 11th Annual GALA, “Baskerville; A Merry Ole Celebration of Theatre” will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Wagner House in Freeport, Illinois.

“The theme of this year’s GALA is taken from TLP’s fourth show of the summer, Baskerville, a Sherlock Homes Mystery,” said TLP Board President, Robin Saar.  Plans are in place to transform Wagner House in to 221 B Baker Street, NW, London.  “Guest can dress in London/Sherlock Holmes specific attire or come business casual,” said Saar.  “They’ll be greeted by Sherlock and his trusty aide, Watson, as well as other English characters.”

One of the main attractions of the evening are the auction events.  Live and silent auctions feature unique experiences, dinners, special theatre events, sports tickets, and fabulous-themed baskets.  The Dessert Auction features fabulous desserts from bakers all around northwestern Illinois.

Troy and Donna Lessman of Lessman Catering are creating an English-themed meal, including Ploughman’s lunch, English Bangers, and Beef Tenderloin. After the main course, guests will have the opportunity to bid on the many desserts provided by area bakers.

In 1961, Timber Lake Playhouse was established as a professional, non-profit summer theatre company. The mission of Timber Lake Playhouse is to provide the best expression of theater arts to the regional community by presenting creative works that entertain and inspire. Since its first opening night on June 28, 1962, the Playhouse has presented more than 350 plays and musicals and nearly 4,000 performances. TLP presents a challenging combination of material each year: a mix of large-scale musicals, new plays, and contemporary classics. The theatre hosts annual educational workshops for children and teens in conjunction with the Magic Owl Children’s Theatre’s productions of plays and musicals for young people and their families.

This is the largest fundraiser for Timber Lake Playhouse.  Tickets for the event are $75 and may be purchased at timberlakeplayhouse.org or by calling 815-244-2035.
