Clinton County Community
Development Association
The Clinton County Community Development
Association (CCCDA) is proud to play a role in the many positive things
that are happening throughout the county and in each of our
communities.
As the non-profit license holder of the
Mississippi Belle II Casino, the CCCDA distributed more than $1 million
just this year to deserving organizations throughout Clinton County.
This is in addition to nearly $7 million in taxes and fees paid by the
casino itself.
The CCCDA is particularly proud this year to
announce a new scholarship program for area high school seniors. Two
graduates from each of the county’s seven high schools will
receive $1,000 to further their college or technical education. The
graduates receiving the scholarship will be selected by their
respective high school.
Finally, the CCCDA is excited about the sale of
the Mississippi
Belle II Casino to Wild Rose Entertainment and the
progress
being made on a new land-based casino on the
western edge
of the city of Clinton. The new facility will be a
tremendous asset
and should increase the amount of funding
available for
distribution to deserving non-profit organizations
throughout
Clinton County.

2006 was a year of change and growth for the
Mississippi Belle II Riverboat Casino. In June, Wild Rose
Entertainment purchased the riverboat from the Robert Kehl family.
The West Des Moines based
company immediately made changes to accommodate
and serve their players better. During the first phase of
transition a more spacious floor design was implemented, changes were
made to enhance the buffet selections and a higher reinvestment budget
was created to attract new players.
The company also made a commitment to the existing
staff by issuing a 4% pay increase across the board.
The strategy worked as the Mississippi Belle
II/Wild Rose Casino continued positive revenue growth in Eastern Iowa
Riverboat casino market, distinguishing them as the competition
continued a downward tick over the previous year revenues.
The group also unveiled plans to build 115,000
square-foot land based facility, which includes a 28,000 square-foot
single level casino, 60 room hotel, 1000 seat events center, and themed
restaurant and buffet. The vision was to develop a first-class
gaming facility that would hark back to
Clinton's rich history by employing
architectural elements of the Van Allen
Building designed by Louis Sullivan
in the early 1900's. The property is
slated to open in mid 2008.
