prosperity and will continue to do so. Our downtown buildings are
filled with activity – restaurants, shops, entertainment, family
attractions- making it an important destination for local residents and
visitors.
Our Objectives
To attract cultural and entertainment
anchors, museums, performing arts, restaurants, cafe's,
boutique’s and specialty shops
To enhance the look of the area, with
professional landscaping, and the renovation of our older architecture
To create a pedestrian-friendly area with
quality, convenient shopping and dining options
To provide river-front access between
Downtown shops and the Mississippi River
To host exciting Downtown events and
attractions
Retail Market Opportunities
Downtown Clinton continues to increase its share
of retail sales. In the last few years, thousands of square feet of
space has been filled with unique businesses.
Office Market Opportunities
As our commercial district enhances its physical
appearance we have seen an increase in demand for office space. We
anticipate that this demand will continue to increase well into the
future.
Housing Market Opportunities
The development of quality affordable housing in
under - utilized upper floors of buildings continues with the 5.2
million redevelopment of the Van Allen and Howes Buildings. An
additional $2 million dollar renovation of the Armstrong building is
creating 19 new affordable apartments.
