Leardership Institute
Established in 1984, the Leadership Institute
program identifies and develops future community leaders. Since
its inception, changes have taken place; however, the objectives remain
the same:
To provide participants meaningful exposure
to community leaders who share their leadership philosophies and
insights for success.
To build or enhance commitment to the
community by connecting participants with the historical roots of the
community.
To create awareness of key community
organizations and processes, leading to an understanding of how the
pieces fit together and discovery of how and where participants can
make a contribution.
To development leadership skills to be
applied in present of future leadership roles.
To provide an experience in “learning
by doing” through active involvement in a leadership project that
adds value to the community or insight into the application of
leadership in the real world.
To link participants with a network of
community leaders with common interests that can be assessed in the
future.
Through a series of 15 sessions, important
community elements are examined including economic and social.
The Leadership Institute provides an opportunity for dialogue
between program participants and civic leaders, which enriches the
participants' experience.
The Leadership Project is an important aspect of
the Leadership Institute. The objective of the project is to
provide an experience in “learning by doing” through active
involvement in a project that adds value to the community or insight
into the application of leadership in the “real” world.
